Adjunct Faculty, HVAC/R

Function of Position:
Adjunct faculty prepare and teach courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned at the Applied Technologies Department (or other sites, as appropriate). Adjunct faculty report to the chairperson of the HVAC/R department. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor a broad diversity of MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
•Provides students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in assigned subjects
•Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of subject
•Encourages students' participation in class activities
•Identifies learning objectives and evaluates student performance based on objectives
•Prepares course syllabi and outlines
•Establishes and maintains an organized and disciplined classroom environment
•Provides students with assistance and guidance
•Adheres to all College and department policies
•Provides timely submission of all required paperwork/information as required by the department or College

Required Qualifications:
•Earned associate's degree in HVAC/R from a regionally accredited higher education institution
•10 years field experience
•EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
•Ability to teach college level courses in Refrigeration, Heating, Electric, Heat Pumps, Boilers, and Air Conditioning
•Ability to plan, organize, and effectively teach large groups in a laboratory environment
•Computer literacy and the use of HVAC/R software
•Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies
•Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skills
•Awareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teaching
•Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus
•Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs
•Evidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college
•Ability to lift laboratory equipment and other materials up to 50 pounds with our without a reasonable accommodation
•Willingness to pursue manufacturer and industry credentials as required by accrediting agencies

Preferred Qualifications:
•Earned bachelor's degree in HVAC/R or master's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution and 7 years field experience
•Industry experience, HVAC/R credentials, and manufacturers' training
•Proctoring and training qualifications for EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
