Universal Design for LearningOver the last few years, there has been considerable literature in journals and books about the theoretical constructs of Universal Design as it applies to learning. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) promotes the presentation of classroom materials in multiple formats and is seen as a pedagogical style that is flexible and suited to the many learning styles of students. UDL is based on the premise that alternatives to traditional instruction and assessment serve to enhance the learning for individuals from diverse backgrounds as well as for those with a range of abilities and disabilities. This workshop · Examines the changing nature and demographics of students in higher education, · Introduces the theoretical constructs of UDL, · Demonstrates practical and technological UDL applications, · Explores teaching strategies and applications, and · Provides an opportunity for faculty to begin to examine their own curriculum.
