Focus on Open Educational Resources

Thoughtful Topics. Watch this presentation by Ron Abel to learn about IMS Global Learning Consortium’s contribution to the OER movement. Hear the implications of an IMS survey of educators on open sources and find out pros and cons as the use of these resources increases.
Partner Spotlight. Open up to open source software with League Supporting Partner Unicon, Inc. The uPortal community at San Joaquin Delta College gets a new email preview portlet and new channels.
TLT Webinars, Dangerous Discussions, and Flashlight. Numerous workshops and three archives are available on iStream, and FridayLive!, TLT-SWG, and TGIF are available to subscribers any time. A limited number of free seats are reserved for iStream members each month.
NROC. NROC has developed HippoCampus.org, a free, public website offering over 2,500 multimedia learning objects in 34 course areas and 9 disciplines. iStream subscribers qualify for deeply discounted memberships and may access an advertisement-free version at http://www.league.org/istreamsite/nroc_index.cfm.
Project Highlights. When it comes to open educational resources for community colleges, Foothill-De Anza Community College District is a major front-runner. Learn about the district’s multiple-organization OER consortium, a student-tailored open textbook project, and a one-of-a-kind website coming this fall.
