WebStudy Prepares for National Launch
As WebStudy prepares to launch its product suite and services nationally, the organization is excited to receive so many affirmations that the product is working just the way the developers envisioned: flexible, usable, cutting-edge, and affordable. WebStudy has received great responses from current users who are learning how easy it is to add WebStudy’s products and tools to their teaching and learning environments. Institutional shoppers are learning that it makes more sense to pay for a course management system based on actual usage rather than student enrollment.
Usability Factors. Some instructors who began using WebStudy CMS for posting supplemental learning materials, for mail and other group communications are discovering just how easy it is to add additional exciting features to the classroom experience. These include CourseStream, which allows you to add video produced by such providers as Annenberg Media, Dallas TeleLearning, and Coast Learning Systems, and to include college-produced videos.
CourseLive allows instructors to set up live, synchronous sessions between the instructor and the students, or among the students. WebStudy provides the opportunity for the same material to be delivered through various modes: a Word document, a PowerPoint show, a PowerPoint show with audio, video clips from a prepackaged product, and CourseLive clips. And best of all, CourseLive can be used with any course management system or fully integrated with the WebStudy CMS.
Cost Factors. WebStudy’s pricing model takes the pressure off the institution. The trim corporate structure reduces overhead and allows WebStudy to offer community colleges and other institutions a sensible pricing policy, based on actual deployment and use, rather than on fees based on campus size.
SCORM Certification. In 2006, WebStudy received the SCORM 2004 certification from the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative. SCORM is a collection of standards and specifications adapted from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive suite of e-learning capabilities that enable interoperability, accessibility, and reusability of web-based learning content.
High Marks for Service. WebStudy is most proud of its ability and dedication to serving customers at all levels of technology comfort. WebStudy’s support program meets the varied needs of different types of users and provides implementation, technical consulting, application hosting, back-office integration, and end-user help desk support.
Why a Closer Look is Worth Your Time. The environment for education has changed dramatically over the past two decades, and it is still evolving through expanded use of the internet, broadband, laptops, and wireless campus systems. Students have access to knowledge whenever they need it and wherever they may be. WebStudy knows and understands the challenges of using a course management system because the people at WebStudy are also educators. They developed the WebStudy Course Management System to enrich the academic experience for both faculty and students with familiar and easy to use tools. As WebStudy president, Gisele LaRose says, “We understand the technology, we understand the sociology and the academic freedom, and we understand budget constraints.”
