Leadership abstractsLeadership Abstracts. Enforced Summertime by Alice Villadsen. In handling organizational demands, traction is sometimes better than action. The author shares her observations on stress in the community college while nursing her own stress fracture, in the August issue of Leadership Abstracts.

Learning abstractsLearning Abstracts. DCCCD’s Core 2009 Curriculum Initiative: An Inclusive Approach by Allatia Harris and Rebecca Williams. The Dallas County Community College District’s Core 2009 initiative used an inventive, inclusive approach in revisiting the district’s liberal arts/general education core curriculum. Thoughtful forums and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff led to the identification of big ideas students should encounter in a core curriculum and skills students need in order to be successful. Learn more about this innovative process in the August issue of Learning Abstracts.

Innovations showcaseInnovation Showcase. Ozarks Technical Community College Center for a Tobacco-Free Campus by Steve Koehler. The Center of Excellence for Tobacco-Free Campus Policy at Ozarks Technical Community College provides seminars for making institutions smokeless.
