Look What’s New in iStream This Month: Focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Thoughtful Topics. Learn about the history of the diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative and hear audience input when League representatives discuss their experiences on the path to creating a culture of inclusion and change.
Partner Spotlight. The University System of Georgia’s African-American Male Initiative and conference were created as a step toward remedying low enrollment. Find out about successful programs now being used within the state’s higher education system in this article from League Sustaining Partner, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
TLT Webinars, Dangerous Discussions, and Flashlight. TLT and the League for Innovation provide iStream subscribers front-row seats to practical and thought-provoking professional development workshops. One scheduled workshop, “Diversity Among Learners: Using Technology to Uncover It, Cope with It, and Take Advantage of It,”addresses the many ways students differ and how technology can be used to level the playing field. This workshop will run on June 19 and 26 at 2:00 p.m. EST, and free seating is available.
Project Highlights: Got diversity? DCCCD’s minority male initiative delivers coaching and clubs to support the African-American male student population, creating a broader perspective for everyone.
Ten Questions: David Pluviose of Diverse discusses the decreasing number of African-American male students and ways community colleges can reverse the trend through mentoring and leadership.
