Look What’s Coming to iStream in February
Focus on Workforce Readiness

This month, iStream focuses on Workforce Readiness. In the search for more fulfilling careers and brighter futures, Workforce Readiness is a priority for today’s community college students. Find out what steps community college professionals are taking to help them get ahead. For information about how your college can access the wealth of resources in iStream, visit www.league.org/istream or contact Wendy Neil (neil@league.org or 480-705-8200, ext 234).

Thoughtful Topics. Watch this panel of educational professionals discuss how the College and Career Transition Initiative has affected remediation and enrollment, while helping community colleges guide students to satisfying careers.

Partners Spotlight. Act, Inc.’s WorkKeys® assessment tool helps draw business to areas that need it most by creating a certified workforce. Read about the successful use of WorKeys in Grand Junction, Colorado, and the ways in which it opened the lines of communication between worker and employer.

TLT Webinars, Dangerous Discussions, and Flashlight. Learn the 10 Commandments of Online Teaching in “What Can Be Done Better Online,” one of three TLT workshops available free for iStream subscribing institutions.

Project Highlights. In this month’s highlight, discover how a six-month labor force study led to the highly developed Skills Advantage worker assessment and placement program at Kirkwood Community College. Learn how this certification gives students and community residents a direct line to local employers.

Ten Questions. Find out how ACT skills assessment and training tools fill the skills gap, and learn a little about personal career development when CEO Dick Ferguson answers ten questions.
