League Services: Focus on Distance Learning

League Services offers a wide array of workshops, speakers, and consultants for community college professional development, convocations, and special events. The following samples focus on distance and online learning.

Using Technology Effectively in Distance Learning Courses. This workshop helps instructors use multimedia to focus student attention on core principles by providing lessons in printable text, photographs, illustrations, animations, videos, audio recordings, website links, and interactive study guides and quizzes. Active Learning Strategies for the Online Classroom. In this age of accountability, educators are challenged to reach every student. This workshop provides step-by-step instructions that help instructors engage students with different experiences, backgrounds, ability, and motivation levels. (More information.)

Assessment Strategies for Distance Learning. Assessment of student learning does not have to be a source of frustration for faculty or their students. During this workshop, participants learn strategies and activities designed to provide accurate feedback about the quality of student learning. (More information.)

Communication Strategies for Distance Learning. Careful planning and analysis are important for designing learning activities and selecting corresponding communication tools. This workshop focuses on effectively using online communication tools. (More information.)
