Recent Publications From the League

Each month, the League publishes Leadership Abstracts, Learning Abstracts, and Innovation Showcase. The most recent editions are available on the League website.

Leadership Abstracts. “Changing a Board of Trustees From Futile to Fertile” by William McGinnis (July 2007). Hidden agendas, poor communication, and too much information can hinder the most important job of a board of trustees: leadership. William McGinnis discusses ways to turn board member focus back to steering the college, in the July issue of Leadership Abstracts.

Learning Abstracts. “Benchmarking Workforce Development: Setting the Standard” by Kathy Yeager (July 2007). Kathy Yeager shares the results of the Workforce Development Benchmark Project, a comprehensive survey administered through the Center for Business and Technology at Johnson County Community College. Learn best practices and ways to apply this knowledge to your institution, in the July issue of Learning Abstracts.

Innovation Showcase. “Community College of Philadelphia Events Seek to Reach At-Risk Youth” by Anthony S. Twyman (July 2007). In an effort to address high crime levels and inadequate education in the city, the Community College of Philadelphia hosts Old School/New School Call Out. Hear straight talk from inmates to at-risk youth, in the July issue of Innovation Showcase.
