League Services Offers New Presentations and Workshops!

Practical Computer Security. Workshop participants discuss the importance of all faculty, students, and staff having a keen sense of security awareness; learn how to select secure passwords; and discover practical and easy ways to secure computers and networks. (More information.)

Introduction to Digital Literacy. Workshop participants discuss how business and industry today are largely being driven by information technology and why workers with information and communications technology skills are better prepared to step out of low-wage, low-skill jobs and into higher-paying jobs that require technology proficiency. Introduction to Camtasia. Workshop participants discover how Camtasia can make online instruction more powerful, how to make presentations for easy distribution, and how easy it is to create powerful Camtasia movies that incorporate sound, motion, and PowerPoint. (More information.)

Active Learning for Online Student Success. Participants in this workshop learn how to effectively apply active learning principles when designing and teaching online courses. Workshop participants experience active and constructivist learning and discuss the importance of knowing students’ learning styles. (More information.)

Soft Skills for Information Technology Students. This workshop focuses on the communication and other soft skills business and industry look for when hiring IT students and the course “Customer Service for IT Professionals” used to teach soft skills to future IT professionals. (More information.)

Free and Inexpensive Tools to Use for Online Development. Participants learn how to use free or inexpensive tools to develop and present online learning in interesting ways. This workshop also covers editing graphics and photographs with PhotoShop Elements, constructing an online quiz with Hot Potatoes, and developing easy-to-use demonstrations with Camtasia.
