Juror's Comment: "The second place winner, Cynthia Nagle's Zaftig, is a ceramic sculpture in which the contours of the figure are emphasized with twine, as if the figure had been originally a basket and was somehow transmogrified into stoneware. 

It has a solidity and strength that relates to ancient Egyptian sculpture and a sophistication that is very modern."
