Wanna take your PinPoint Twitter involvement to the next level?

Links to Online Resources

Include online resources in your Tweets. If you’re at a session or exhibitor booth that shares a resource that your Twitter community might find useful, tweet it out — if the URL is especially lengthy, consider using a URL shortening service — see below:

URL Shortener

URL shorteners are used to turn long URLs into shorter URLs. Shortening services can be found online. Find out how to shorten links. Learn about Twitter’s own URL shortener.

Pictures

My favorite thing about Twitter is the sharing of visuals — i.e. pictures! Take pictures of where you are, who you’re with, landmarks, ideas, locations, scenery….you name it! Most Twitter apps for mobile devices have a picture attach feature that allows you to upload a picture to a hosted space and share with your Twitter followers!

Twitter Apps

Smartphones and tablets will have twitter apps in the apps store or market. If you would like a more robust tracking system, try hootsuite.com or tweetdeck.com (both of these sites also have smartphone apps that you should be able to find in your apps store on your smartphones).

Post-Conference Tweet Collection (so you can grab your notes)

A quick and easy way to archive your tweets from the conference is to use Tweetbackup. It’s web-based and will collect up to 3200 tweets (including back tweets). You can also export the archive in order to make it a searchable document (so you can easily locate the #INND13 tweets specifically).

So you’re presenting at Innovations 2013 and want to play the game or have signed up to play the game and you’re wondering what to do….

Once at your presentation, you will need to decide how you will engage the conference attendees. The goal is to motivate the attendees to “shout out” something about your session using Twitter. We wanted to provide you with four ways we imagine you incorporating the game into your presentation:

Review: After presenting for a certain period of time, you stop to review and ask the participants to reflect upon what they’ve learned. You provide a prompt, something like: “PinPoint Players: Tweet out what you’ve learned thus far! Don’t forget to include #INND13 and the session number (found in the conference program).

Application: After providing 3-4 specific examples, stop and ask participants to think about what example best applies to their scenario. You provide a prompt, something like: “PinPoint Players: Tweet out which example/idea would work best with your students, program and/or institution. Don’t forget to include #INND13 and the session number (found in the conference program).

Share Resources: If you are providing a link to resources, consider giving your session attendees a taste of the resource and then have them share the excitement. You provide a prompt, something like: “PinPoint Players: Tweet out who at your institution should be sure to read/watch (insert shortened URL)? Don’t forget to include #INND13 and the session number (found in the conference program). (Players only have 140 characters, so make sure your URL is very short or use a URL shortner like bit.ly.)

Questions: If you want feedback on your presentation, consider asking participants to share questions, concerns, and/or complements. You provide a prompt, something like: “PinPoint Players: Tweet out an questions, concerns, or complements about this session. Don’t forget to include #INND13 and the session number (found in the conference program).

Notice that with each prompt we suggest tell session participants to include the session number. By including the session number, you will be able to easily collate and read all of the posts related to your session after you present. Visit HERE to get started with Twitter.

Specifically, we imagine you would prompt game play using one of the following methods:

specifically mention the game play prompt while it is simultaneously presented visually (probably as a PowerPoint slide);

specifically mention the game play prompt while it is simultaneously presented in a handout (you will be responsible for providing your own handouts); or

only mentioning the game play prompt while you are speaking (please note this will get the least amount of participation).

Obviously we hope you will provide some form of visual prompt with either a slide and/or a handout. To maximize online discussion and feedback about your session, consider including both #INND13 and the session number on every slide and handout.
