Becoming A Learning College, The Building Blocks Of Change A Collaborative Effort of Michigan Community College Association, Michigan State University, and the Strategic Thinking Task Force

This monograph details how the leaders at Michigan State University and Michigan's 28 community colleges responded to a call for action to implement strategies that improve and expand student learning at their institutions. Seven key organizational change ideas are reviewed in this document, including:

1) creating a culture of change
2) affirming the trustee's role in the change process
3) growing employees for the learning college
4) defining learning and outcomes
5) providing appropriate curricular and delivery methods
6) collaborating with diverse groups
7) revising the organizational structure.
