Basics:
What
courses are available through Project SAIL?
As
of 2004, there are eight specialty A.S. Degree programs,
11 certificate programs, and more than 100 industry-specific courses.
For more detail, please visit the Project
SAIL Catalog.
What
are the benefits of being involved in Project SAIL rather than just
having students sign up individually for these online specialty
courses and programs?
Through Project SAIL, the institution providing the specialty content
is able to recapture some of the development investment funding,
while the recipient institution is able to enrich its program options,
increase FTE counts, and serve local industry needs, while their
students are able to access high-quality eLearning options
while retaining services at their home institutions, such as advising,
financial aid, tutoring, computer lab access, library access, career
guidance services, and local placement services.
Are
all the Project SAIL programs asynchronous, web-based, and delivered
only through distance learning?
No. Many of the Project SAIL programs and courses can be
made available as hybrid options, or delivered via CD-ROMs for LAN
distribution, and those with lab or apprenticeship requirements
can be coordinated through local college services and community
networks.
How much do Project SAIL programs cost?
Project SAIL programs and courses are offered through negotiations
and service contracts by the Project SAIL Partner providers. The
terms, costs, and delivery of programs are negotiable with each
Project SAIL partner. An example of one SAIL program cost is $85.00
per student/per credit hour, with the home institution to receive
the FTE for each student participant.
