Description: Physical fitness is attainable by anyone in varying degrees and at different rates of progression. This program motivates students toward improving personal physical fitness and an overall healthier lifestyle at a pace specific to each individual. Students are asked to make behavioral, as well as physical, changes in their lifestyle. The successful implementation of these changes serve to motivate students to maintain personal fitness, proper nutrition and lifelong healthy lifestyle choices.

Program Title: Nutrition Pathways

Description: The content focuses on the digestive system and digestive processes, distinguishing between simple and complex carbohydrates with health effects associated with carbohydrate intake, outlining the steps involved in metabolism, and the ways energy is derived from carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. The curriculum includes the consequences of consuming too much and too little energy related to weight control, causes of obesity, methods of assessing body weight and composition, and good and poor treatments for obesity.

Program Title: Residential Building Performance Technology

Description: Following a 'systems approach' to improve the health, safety, comfort, durability, environmental quality, and energy efficiency of homes and buildings, the content focuses on exploring a variety of residential energy efficient and green rating systems. Students engaging in learning experiences to make sound economic recommendations regarding the combination of building technologies, energy loads, and onsite power generation to meet the qualifications of a net zero energy home. The program offers an A.A. option or Certificate for careers as residential energy conservation code officials, home energy raters, and residential green raters and verifiers.
