Remedial
Education Implementation Project
With ongoing support from The Lumina Foundation ,
the League is undertaking a number of activities to advance
the findings from its 2000 National Study of Community College
Remedial Education. This second phase of a large-scale remedial
education initiative is targeted to increase student success
in community colleges by improving remedial education programs
and policies.
GOALS
ACTIVITIES
Senior League Fellow and project director, Bob McCabe,
leads project activities.

Develop
a 20-minute video and abstract of the findings from
the remedial education study |

Work
with League corporate partner The
College Board to develop a basic skills diagnostic
placement instrument |

Select
an Advisory Committee to
develop a guide for community college developmental
education |

Conduct
a series of meetings with legislatures and college leaders
to promote the study |
Interested community college educators are asked to contribute
their recommendations and viewpoints by participating in online
discussion forums via the project
website.
