The Transition Mathematics Project (TMP) is designed to help students progress from secondary to college-level math by aligning standards and expectations, building the capacity of instructors, and communicating math expectations to students and parents. Working with high school and college math educators, TMP identified the math skills and knowledge high school graduates need to meet minimum admission requirements, avoid remediation upon enrolling in college, and complete college-level work. In its integration stage, TMP enabled educators to incorporate the College Readiness Standards into their classrooms, math departments, and districts. Initially launched with 17 partnerships across Washington, TMP’s collaborative approach is part of a cross-sector effort among educational institutions and employers to create a seamless system to benefit all Washington students.
