NCAT's Emporium Model of course redesign has proven remarkably and consistently successful in improving student learning and lowering instructional costs. Attendance is mandatory in both the Flexible Attendance and Fixed Attendance versions of the model, providing students time on task as well as on-demand assistance. Weekly group meetings, also mandatory, build community among students and instructors while offering opportunities for strengthening weak areas and emphasizing other areas. Mandatory lab hours may be completed at the students' convenience (Flexible) or scheduled by the institution for student cohorts (Fixed). The NCAT website includes links to several community college and university examples, including basic math, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, college algebra, and precalculus.
