Tutors in the Classroom-Supplemental Instruction Delta College (MI)
http://www.delta.edu/
Delta College brings trained tutors into all first-level developmental math and English courses—the courses with the greatest risk of student failure—to offer intensive content-based study sessions that reinforce new material and discuss learning strategies. All students are invited, and students who are averaging a course grade lower than B are required to attend. Tutoring sessions are scheduled with the class section so that students have no excuse for missing them. In the first-level developmental math course, students who participate in the study sessions have an overall course GPA of 2.54 and a success rate of 75%, compared with an overall course GPA of 1.73 and success rate of 20% for those who did not participate.
