In 2005, Achieve, Inc., launched the American Diploma Project (ADP) Network, through which governors, state education officials, postsecondary leaders, and business executives work together to improve postsecondary preparation. The Network is committed to a common core set of standards and encourages four critical actions: aligning high school standards and assessments with the knowledge and skills required for success after high school; requiring all high school graduates to complete a college- and career-ready curriculum so that earning a diploma assures a student is prepared for opportunities after high school; building assessments into the statewide system that measures students' readiness for college and careers; and developing an accountability system that promotes college and career readiness. The Math Works kit provides materials for stakeholders from students and parents to educators to policymakers that illustrate the impact of taking rigorous high school math courses on college access and success, career preparation, and personal and national competitiveness.
