Learning and Teaching
Students registered for distance education classes, either fully online or hybrid, are invited to virtually attend an orientation presentation showing them how to access their course and communicate with their instructors and classmates, and are given contact information for the Office of Distance Education for assistance once their classes have begun. The recorded webinar is also available for viewing at the students' convenience any time after the original presentation. The virtual orientation helps to allay student fears about learning online and provides answers to frequently asked questions. The college already has a GoToMeeting account, which includes a complementary product called GoToWebinar. GoToWebinar offers the ability to send branded invitations via email and have attendees self-register online. It also sends electronic reminders before an event and electronic post-event notification, with information about the archived recording.
