Learning and Teaching
To help faculty using Desire2Learn ensure that their online test questions are valid and reliable, MTC's Educational Technology and Academic Affairs units created a system compatible with Desire2Learn test outputs that allows faculty to quickly assess if test items are valid and reliable. It streamlines what was a time consuming and difficult process and impacts student success directly. Vague or misleading questions are easily identified and clarified. Students are then tested on what the instructor intended, and the test is more reliable and valid. This fast, innovative tool has placed students and faculty in a win-win situation which yields a high impact on student success and greatly empowers the individual faculty member. Since its development in 2011, the program has been requested for use in colleges from several states, as well as in South Carolina, because it is so easy to use. MTC has shared it free of charge in the spirit of improving education nationwide.
