Student Services and Activities : Retention and Success
Two counselors from Henry Ford Community College took an already existing, proven program and transformed it into a working collaboration with service agencies in the community, a national student achievement organization, and a national community financial stability initiative. These include ACCESS of Dearborn, LISC Detroit, MDC, and United Way. The Inside Track has partnered to implement the Center for Working Families (CWF) integrated service model for its students at Henry Ford Community College. Students within the program are connected to appropriate student support, career development and job attainment, financial coaching and mentoring, and support from student mentors, all while obtaining a college degree or vocational credentials. These students learn the importance of life long learning, self efficacy, and financial security. The Inside Track has shown through research and reports that it is a successful collaboration between staff, students, faculty, and outside agencies.
