Learning and Teaching
To fulfill SLCC's mission to serve the needs of community and government agencies, the Thayne Center facilitates campus-community partnerships with nonprofit organizatons. In order to successfully advance those partnerships, the Nonprofit Volunteer Management Training Series (NVMTS) was established. NVMTS is a valleywide collaboration between the Thayne Center for Service & Learning, United Way of Salt Lake, the Bennion Community Service Center at the University of Utah, the Center for Civic Engagement at Westminster College, and the Utah Commission on Volunteers. The trainings serve as a professional development resource for nonprofit professionals of all experience levels. They enhance the capacity of organizatons to meet their mission and also enhance the learning environments for SLCC service-learning students and volunteers. Monthly trainig topics are defined by surveying our community partner organizations. The 2012 NVMTS pilot averaged 50 attendees per session.
