Learning and Teaching
The development of the E-PPRENTICE for Professional Cooks Training Program has revolutionized the way cook apprenticeship training is delivered in British Columbia. The integration of the practical and technical workplace training enables the apprentice to be supported in a learning community throughout their apprenticeship. The program provides apprentices with an integrated learning experience through support of a robust learning environment where e-pprentices, employers, and instructors work together to support the learner. Throughout the three levels of the program, an online mentor assists e-pprentices with a variety of materials and collaborative activities. Employers play an integral role in the learning process by providing the necessary environment for e-pprentices to practice and develop their practical skills. This integrated approach replaces the traditional apprenticeship model, and brings together the technical and workplace training in a supportive learning environment.
