Learning and Teaching
FLATE designed and created the Engineering Technology (ET) Associate of Science degree program, a program of study with credential-based articulation supporting a variety of pathways connecting students with the manufacturing workforce in Florida. The ET degree program features a traditional one-plus-one design with core courses offered in the first year and at HCC, an Advanced Manufacturing specialization in the second year. This course of study incorporates the unique feature of being aligned to an external industry standard, the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) certification with the credential articulating 15 credit hours towards the degree program. Since HCC adopted the new ET degree program in 2008, enrollment has grown to 603 students in ET programs, such as Biomedical Engineering Technology and Industrial Management Technology. ET programs have shown a gain in enrollment each year.
