The League for Innovation in the
Community College and
OpenMind Publishing Deliver Digital Content Solution
Phoenix, AZ - October 29,
2001 -The League for Innovation in the Community College (League), an
international organization dedicated to catalyzing the community college
movement, and OpenMind Publishing Group, a collaborative publishing service,
today announced the creation of a new professional resource that will
benefit community college educators and administrators.
The digital publications library will house electronic versions of League
content including books, monographs, and reports. The repository will
be available through subscription.
"Community college
educators will now have immediate, online access to all of the League's
publications," states Cynthia Wilson, Vice President, Publications
& Research for the League. "This partnership with OpenMind has
allowed us to create a resource that will be a beneficial professional
development tool for faculty, staff, and administrators throughout the
institution."
OpenMind Publishing provided
the technology needed to develop and maintain the digital content repository.
The Digital Publications Library program allows subscribers to access
a full array of League publications. Subscribing institutions will receive
password protected access for their faculty and staff. Each individual
user will receive personal access, providing an opportunity to add notes
and highlights, download PDF versions of the content, and even purchase
offline copies. Future expansion plans include the addition of alternate
format e-books and downloadable audio versions of the content.
"We view this alliance
with The League as an exciting partnership that extends the value of the
League's intellectual property to the broad community college market",
said Craig Johnson, Vice President of Business Development for OpenMind
Publishing Group. "By combining the League's content with OpenMind's
publishing system, users gain incredible flexibility and value from multiple
digital delivery methods."
The digital publications library will be unveiled at the upcoming League
for Innovation Conference on Information Technology, held November 13-17
at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
