League to be Represented
on American Council on Education Board of Directors
League CEO to serve on ACE
Governing Board
PHOENIX, AZ - March 5, 2002-The League
for Innovation in the Community College was elected to hold a seat on
the board of directors of the American Council on Education (ACE) at the
organization's 84th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA last month. Mark
David Milliron, President and CEO, League for Innovation, will sit on
the board, serving a one-year term.
ACE is a comprehensive association of the
nation's colleges and universities dedicated to higher education issues
and advocacy on behalf of quality higher education programs. Counted among
the Council's members are more than 1,800 accredited degree-granted colleges
and universities and higher education related associations, organizations,
and corporations.
ACE represents higher education before
Congress, federal agencies, the Supreme Court, and the federal courts,
and works to coordinate the interests of each higher education sector
into a single voice on issues of national policy. It operates a number
of programs designed to increase access to postsecondary education, promote
equity, ensure quality education on the nation's campuses, and train new
generations of higher education leaders.
The board of directors is ACE's governing
body, responsible for overseeing management of the association and setting
the general policy direction for the organization.
