Don W. Cameron was appointed President Emeritus of Guilford Technical Community College in 2011 after serving the college for 30 years, the last twenty years as President. Cameron currently serves as the President and CEO of his own educational consulting business, Don Cameron and Associates, and is the Senior Partner of National Search and Education Consulting. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Roueche Graduate Center at National American University and is an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Leadership Studies at NC A&T State University. He is a John Maxwell Executive Coach and Trainer. Cameron has served in a variety of faculty and administrative positions in universities, colleges, and community colleges in North and South Carolina. He is in demand as a speaker on education’s role in economic development, leadership development and succession planning.
Cameron has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest award given by the Governor of NC, 2011; Most Influential–People Who Keep the Triad Moving–The Business Journal, 2008, 2009; Joseph M. Bryan Foundation Award for Outstanding Service to the Community of Greensboro, 2005; and Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction as Outstanding Community College President, Phi Theta Kappa, 1996.
Cameron’s service to the community and to education is extensive. Recent service includes current member, High Point Community Health Fund Board of Directors; Past Chair, High Point Economic Development Corporation, 2009-2011; Past Chair, Board of Trustees, High Point Regional Health Systems, 2008-2010; and Past Chair, High Point Chamber of Commerce, 2006.
