Statement:	A long time ago, one person told me she believed in me and my ability to be a leader. That one conversation opened up my mind and gave me confidence to take on roles I never dreamed would be mine. I remember this every time I work with a student—it’s that one phone call, that one statement, or that one personal touch that can really make a difference in someone’s life. That is the approach that I center my department’s services around, and no matter how impersonal the world may seem to become, we strive to never lose that touch.
