Statement:	I try to couple challenging assignments and high expectations for student achievement with proactive, individualized support and step-by-step strategies for success for every assignment I give. Decades after stepping into my first classroom as an instructor, I’m still learning how to teach. Today, my classroom practices are much more strategic than in the past, designed to foster student engagement and to create a space in which students actually demonstrate their learning. I take a more supportive role, subordinate to their activity—I’m a guide, a coach, and a cheerleader when my students get it right.
