Statement:	My writing students usually know what they want to be when they graduate, so I try to help them think about who they want to be. Partly inspired by my study of Black Mountain College, I strive in my teaching to focus on “the whole person,” emphasizing intellectual curiosity, genial skepticism, and deep self-awareness. I want students to live purposefully, not just in preparation for college and career, but in fully realizing their humanity and determining what will fulfill them.
