Peggy Waxter Program Manager, Frederick Community College
Frederick Community College encourages life-long learning for every individual and saw the possibility of providing an opportunity for trooper candidates enrolled in the Maryland State Police Academy to earn a college degree. FCC's unique partnership with the MSP enables the college to provide college credit for the criminal justice courses taught during a trooper candidates' seven-month MSP police academy. FCC Instructors then teach the required General Education courses needed for an A.A.S. degree in Police Science in the evenings. Both FCC and the MSP value the benefits of learning and view this degree as a way to develop a more professional law enforcement official for the State of Maryland.
