K. Patricia Cross Collection Now Available Online
For seventeen years, K. Patricia Cross has supported The Cross Papers, a series of monographs published by the League and designed as resources for community college faculty seeking to improve their own teaching and their facilitation of student learning. She started in 1997 with the first issue of The Cross Papers, Developing Professional Fitness Through Classroom Assessment and Classroom Research, and continued for seven years, presenting her papers at the League’s Innovations conference each year before retiring as author of The Cross Papers. Throughout the decade since she stopped writing the monographs herself, she has generously supported The Cross Papers Fellowship in order to continue providing this rich professional development resource for community college faculty.
Now, through the efforts of Robert Gabriner and his colleagues at San Francisco State University, an archive of Pat Cross’s speeches and writings is freely available online. The archive includes topics such as lifelong learning, the learning society, community college education, libraries, learning assessment, and other themes and issues in higher education; the first seven issues of The Cross Papers are available in the archive. Community college educators can learn more about Pat Cross’s distinguished career and the influence she has had, and continues to have, on higher education policy and practice by visiting the K. Patricia Cross archive.
