Member Spotlight: Blending Health Care and High Tech for New Program
55,000 new jobs are available at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) due to a nationwide mandate which calls for institutions to maintain electronic health records (EHR). To make the switch from paper to electronic, the health care industry must perfect processes using software tools. A program at MHCC is on the forefront of training students to assist with this switch from paper to electronic records as part of a new industry called health informatics.

U.S. Workers Fall Short of Employers’ Needs for Foreign Language Proficiency
The University of Phoenix Research Institute conducted a study to discern if there is a gap in the need for business-critical languages and the workforce’s readiness to deliver them. Results indicate that a high number of job seekers and workers have low intent to learn Arabic, Chinese, or Russian, and many had little or no intent to learn Spanish.
