Faculty Mentoring in the Community College Setting
As educators, we engage in the act of mentoring, at least informally, every day, whether with peers or students. So the question is: Do the benefits outweigh the cost of the development and implementation of a formal mentoring program? Why should a community college invest in a formalized faculty mentoring program? Such a program enhances the performance of the college and its people.

Walmart Foundation Grant Helps Community Colleges Train Displaced Workers
Phoenix, AZ (August 17, 2009) – Eight community colleges from around the country have been selected to participate in the Walmart Brighter Futures Project led by the League for Innovation in the Community College. The Walmart Foundation is providing a $3.5 million grant to fund the project, designed to help the selected community colleges work with their local and regional workforce development community to offer a variety of services and training to people who are seeking employment following a job loss.
