Charles W. Gould is the President of Florence-Darlington Technical College in Florence, South Carolina. Since becoming President in 1993, Dr. Gould has led numerous initiatives, including the recent development of the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology, a premier state-of-the-art facility where interactive 3D technology solutions have been designed to provide a showcase of new 3D technologies, enhance content development for educators and industry partners for education and training, and to provide industry with new ways for enhancing sales, marketing, maintenance, and operations.

Dr. Gould has held positions in the technical college system of South Carolina for over 29 years and has served in three of the system’s 16 technical colleges. He has taught at Duke University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and was an Associate Managing Editor of a national educational publishing company. Dr. Gould serves on the board of the Commission on Colleges for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and frequently chairs accreditation teams and special projects for the Commission on Colleges. He also serves on the board of the National Council of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Centers, Global Learning Systems, and several other national organization boards of directors. Dr. Gould chairs the Florence County Economic Development Partnership; is a board member of the Downtown Florence Redevelopment Corporation; is immediate past president and ex-officio board member of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce; and is an advisory board member for the Darlington County Economic Development Board, SCANA, Progress Energy, BB&T Bank, and McLeod Regional Medical Center. He holds a master’s degree and a doctoral degree with an emphasis on ethics and law.


J. Larry Keen is the President of Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Dr. Keen has developed a Virtual College Center as a global center of excellence focused on advanced visualization for learning and workforce and economic development through simulation-based learning, telepresence communication in education, and innovation in global distance learning. As the primary component of a statewide visualized learning plan, the Virtual College Center will expand its interactive 3D hub to “minivisualization” centers located at community colleges and locations across North Carolina.

Dr. Keen previously served as Vice President for the Division of Economic and Workforce Development for the North Carolina Community College System. In North Carolina, he has served on the Economic Development Board, Workforce Development Commission, Duke Energy/Community College Foundation, Economic Developers’ Association, NC Science and Technology Board, and others on behalf of the System President. During his career, Dr. Keen has served as a faculty member and administrator at the community college and university levels. He has served in many leadership roles in North Carolina and Oklahoma at the national, regional, state, and local levels that include education, economic development, aviation, corporate training, and international relations. In addition, Dr. Keen has international experience in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Moldova, and Germany on missions including economic development, educational relationships, and foreign direct investment. Dr. Keen is a certified master trainer and facilitator for numerous training systems. He holds a master’s degree in business education and a doctorate in education.


Michael B. McCall is the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Since his appointment in 1998, Dr. McCall has restructured and rapidly expanded the number of academic and technical programs offered to students and expanded access to postsecondary education through new facilities and distance learning programs, including a statewide program for visualized learning that provides an array of workforce training opportunities.

Dr. McCall previously served as president of South Carolina’s comprehensive technical college system and provided leadership for South Carolina’s economic development training programs. He also served as president of Florence Darlington Technical College in Florence, SC, and as president of Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin, VA. Dr. McCall was also a dean and a faculty member at community and technical colleges in Virginia. He serves on numerous national and local boards and commissions such as the National Science Foundation Blue Ribbon Panel, Business Higher Education Forum, and the editorial board of the Community College Journal of Research and Practice. Dr. McCall completed his tenure in 2006 as Board Chair of the American Association of Community Colleges. Dr. McCall has been recognized with various awards for his advanced collaborative partnerships, economic development, innovative use of technology, and the utilization of team-oriented management. He holds a master’s degree in physics and a doctorate in educational administration.


Marly Bergerud is the Vice President of Education Development for EON Reality, Inc., the leading provider of interactive 3D virtual reality software and system integrator of such products. Ms. Bergerud’s focus is to work with educational leaders who “see the future” for the advancement and implementation of 3D interactive visualization environments to change the way people work and people learn. She serves as an advisor and consultant to businesses and educational institutions for analysis, design, and implementation of innovative, experiential learning systems, leading-edge technologies, and alternative modes of delivery, including e-learning.

Prior to working with EON Reality, Ms. Bergerud had a lifetime career in educational management within the California Community Colleges having served as Dean of Business at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA and, later, as Vice President, Workforce and Economic Development at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. She also served as a Professor of Business at Cypress College in Cypress, CA. Her reputation is that of a nationally recognized educational leader specializing in regional and statewide collaborative partnerships between educational institutions and their industry partners and for a lifetime of technology innovation and workforce restructuring for 21st century. Ms. Bergerud has authored and published 24 computer technology textbooks. She holds a master’s degree in education.
