Marketing Communications for the 21st Century

This half-day activity especially designed for community college Public Information Officers (PIOs) and held in conjunction with the 2006 Conference on Information Technology* focuses on the use of technology for marketing communication. This event provides an excellent opportunity rarely afforded PIOs to learn from each other by discussing issues important to their work. PIOs from community colleges around the country will meet and exchange ideas about using technology to create solutions to common challenges. Innovative applications for recruiting students, promoting the institution’s image, and marketing classes and programs in this time of rapid change are also discussed. Topics include
• The changing media;
• Marketing communications using multimedia technology;
• The college website;
• Electronic advertising;
• Media relations using the internet;
• The effective use of podcasts, webcasts, and blogs;
• Measuring and tracking marketing effectiveness; and
• Crisis communication.
