Understanding how
current students use technology provides the basis for understanding
their changing expectations for online, hybrid, and even traditional
instruction. In his presentation, John O'Brien will initially review
current research and data and then demonstrate with concrete examples
how students are embracing interactive technologies in their learning
and in their daily lives. Building on this foundational understanding,
he will highlight the best practices that have emerged when teaching
and learning professionals deploy new technologies in traditional
areas.
O'Brien draws on what he has learned as a faculty member and as a
campus and statewide leader in the Minnesota State Colleges and
Universities system. He provides an engaging look at how students use
technology, how this experience has shaped their expectations for
higher education, and how some colleges are changing in order to reach
those students we serve.
