Assembly Required: Building Active Pedagogies with Sharable Content Objects
Learners construct knowledge for themselves and in various social communities,
and learning objects promise to provide ample materials for the construction of
anywhere, anytime learning. Seeking the broadest ability to do the former with
the latter is where Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) fits in. The presenters highlight recent work involving learning objects from the field
and from published research and discuss some of the key design decisions
involved in using existing standards. The upcoming new release of SCORM and the
resulting design decisions are also discussed, along with potential enhancements
to the reference model that might further enable learning objects to contribute
to designed active pedagogies online.
