The 2009 Conference on Information Technology will be held
at the Cobo Conference/Exhibition Center. Cobo Center is Michigans World
Class meeting and convention facility. The complex, located on the bank
of the Detroit River, is the centerpiece of downtown Detroit's Civic Center,
overlooking the Detroit River and its international neighbor, Windsor,
Canada. Cobo is linked to all downtown Detroit hotels and entertainment
districts by the Detroit People Mover, the only elevated railway system
of its kind in the United States.

directly with the following hotel. When making your reservation, please

Transportation Between the Detroit Marriott and the Cobo
Conference/Exhibition Center
Conference participants have three ways to get back
and forth between the Detroit Marriott and the Cobo Conference/Exhibition
Center where all conference activities are being held: (1)
Visit Detroit will provide a complimentary shuttle service during
the times below to help conference participants get back and forth between
the Detroit Marriott and Cobo. (2) The People Mover is a safe, reliable,
efficient, and accessible rail transportation service. (3) In nice weather,
it is a beautiful three block walk between the Detroit Marriott and Cobo
that takes about 10 minutes either way.
Visit Detroit personnel will be stationed at the
Detroit Marriott and Cobo to assist conference participants consider their
options for travel, which include, the shuttle service, the People Mover,
cabs, or walking to and from their destination.
Shuttle Service
The shuttle service between the Detroit Marriott and the Cobo Center will
run continuously during the following hours:
Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Monday: 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Detroit People Mover
The Detroit People Mover is a 2.9 mile (4.6 km) automated people
mover system that operates on a single-track, one-way loop through the
central business district of downtown Detroit, Michigan.
Visit Detroit will sell People Mover passes and tokens at a table
near the conferences registration area in the Cobo Center, as well as
provide information about downtown restaurants and various attractions.
How much does it cost to ride the People Mover?
The People Mover charges $.50 per trip or $1.25 per day for conference
participants.
How long does it take to get to the Cobo Center from
the Detroit Marriott via the People Mover?
Almost 10 minutes. The People Mover runs in one direction, counterclockwise,
and there are eight stops between the Detroit Marriott and the Cobo Center.
Most conference participants will likely want to walk or take the shuttle
in the mornings to get to the Cobo Center. In the afternoon, most conference
participants will likely walk or take the People Mover back to the Detroit
Marriott.
How long does it take to get to the Detroit Marriott
from the Cobo Center via the People Mover?
Almost 5 minutes. There are only three stops between the Cobo Center
and the Detroit Marriott. Also, Visit Detroit is providing a
complimentary shuttle service to assist conference participants move between
the Detroit Marriott and the Cobo Center.
How frequently does the People Mover run?
The People Mover picks up at each station every 2.5 to 3 minutes.
There is a station inside the Cobo Center. The entire circle takes 15
minutes. The hours are
Monday through Thursday: 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Sunday: 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Credit card payments will be accepted. Please note: Anyone
who does not cancel their reservation within 48 hours of their scheduled
arrival will be charged the price of a one-way trip ($25).
Upon arrival at Detroit Metro Airport, you will be met by a greeter who
will assist you to the shuttle service's registration table and onto a
waiting shuttle that will transport you to the Detroit Marriott. Ground
transportation service will be available on a 24-hour basis throughout
the conference dates. Enjoi Transportation Solutions strongly
encourages conference participants to make reservations at least 48 hours
before arrival. However, ground transportation will be provided
to conference participants upon same-day arrival to Detroit Metro Airport.
